HOW IT WORKS/FAQ’S

Can I view the caravans available before I commit to hire?

Sure, caravans can be inspected (by appointment only) at our depot in Wingfield, Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm (excluding public holidays).

What are the upfront costs?

All vans require a $300 bond (refundable at conclusion of hire) First two weeks hire fees. Delivery fee (Starting at $60)

Please note: Upfront costs must be received prior to delivery.  Caravans remain available for hire until funds are received.

How are payments made?

By electronic funds transfer

How is power provided to the caravan?

We supply the required 15 Amp power lead and converter. Each van has a built in safety switch and they plug into a regular power point

Do you service rural areas?

We can service limited regional areas of South Australia, however there may be additional costs for delivery and hire. Please feel free to give us a call to see if we can help with a solution. A converter is supplied

How does the insurance work?

There is $300 bond payable upon initial hire. If the van is damaged the hirer if financially liable for the repair or the insurance, which ever is less. The hirer is responsible for any damage done to their van whilst on hire to them. (Refer to the terms and conditions)

Can a Housing Trust Bond be used?

No, this option is currently not available.

I’m not sure whether the space I have for the caravan is suitable?
Ideally the space for setting up caravans is a flat and solid surface. You will need to consider whether the van will fit under any carports you might have also. If you need some help you are welcome to text us pictures and call us to discuss your proposed site. Please note: Caravans cannot be parked on residential streets due to council regulations – they must be on private land.

I’m renting, do I need approval from my landlord?
It is the responsibility of the hirer to gain approval from their landlord if applicable. We strongly recommend you talk to them and gain approval in writing. If a caravan is required to be removed due to non-approval, a break of contract fee is charged and the van is collected.

How do I end the contract if I need to?

If you have already completed the full term of your hire (min 3 months) you are only required to provide a minimum of two weeks notice. GOOD NEWS! There is no maximum period of hire. Caravans can remain on site indefinitely. If you decide to terminate the agreement before the completion date the $300 bond will be forfeited.

What are the rules on using cooking and washing up facilities?

LPG cooking and the use of sinks are not allowed by council regulations if the caravan is parked on residential land. Each caravan comes with a fridge. The cooking facilities are disabled as the caravan is designed to be used as an extra bedroom situated close to a house where bathrooms and kitchen can be used inside the house.

What are the other general rules?

Pets- by negotiation
Smoking – No smoking at any time in caravans. Cleaning fees will apply for non-compliance.

Can I tow or reposition the caravan myself?

Caravans must be towed or repositioned by Adelaide Affordable Caravan Hire staff only. If a caravan is required to be repositioned whilst on-hire, this will attract an additional fee starting at $110 including gst.
